Desalination is a processes that separate dissolved salts and other minerals from water. Saltwater is desalinated to produce water, suitable for human use. Most of the modern interest in desalination is focused on practical supply of fresh water for human use.
The major type of desalination process is Reverse Osmosis (RO). RO desalination technology was initially developed in the late 1950s.
After that, it is now evolved into the leading desalination technology globally. There are many different process used in RO desalination. In India, most of us uses the principle of osmosis to remove salt and other impurities, by transferring water through a series of semi-permeable membranes.
Desalination has the potential to produce pure water to support large populations located near the coast. With the growing demand for fresh water, desalination is becoming more and more practical and economical.
